Baltimore Orioles Insider Says Major Trade Is Coming This Offseason
Just because something major hasn’t happened yet for the Baltimore Orioles doesn’t mean nothing will occur.
At least that’s been the thought surrounding the offseason approach so far.
By now, everyone knows the Orioles would like to add an elite starting pitcher to their rotation. They addressed their one bullpen need with the signing of Craig Kimbrel and now can turn their attention to the their most pressing need.
Whether it’s Dylan Cease, Corbin Burnes or a few other notable names, Baltimore has been linked to just about every single one of them.
But, no trade has been completed.
Steve Melewski of MASN thinks that not only will a trade occur this offseason, but that one is imminent.
“The infield depth seems to be leading to one conclusion – a trade is coming. Because it has not so far doesn’t mean it won’t … To me, considering the depth of talent here, a deal seems likely, almost inevitable,” he writes.
With Jackson Holliday on the verge of making his MLB debut, it seems very clear they should move a few of their other prospects to get back one of the aces available on the trade market.
Who they would be willing to give up is unknown.
However, eventually the Orioles have move some of these players to address the needs that this roster has. They can’t just stockpile highly-ranked prospects forever.
Mike Elias and his front office have done a good job of rebuilding the talent within the organization overall.
Now, they need to use what they’ve built to get more pieces that allow them to compete for a World Series championship right now.
