Dallas Cowboys Trade For Dynamic Running Back In Major Blockbuster Proposal
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys were expected to come into the offseason with a very aggressive approach after their heartbreaking loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the playoffs last season. To the dismay of the fans, they were extremely quiet and have been getting ripped for their lack of aggressiveness.
Instead, the Cowboys will keep relatively the same roster together heading into 2024. With that in mind, Dallas is also facing what could be a major make-or-break season.
Many believe that if the Cowboys don’t win the NFC East and make a deep playoff run, they will go through a massive teardown of the current team. Both Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy are firmly on the hot seat this year. That alone makes their lack of offseason aggressiveness strange.
One of the biggest losses that the Dallas Cowboys suffered this offseason was Tony Pollard leaving in free agency. It wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if the team had replaced him. As of right now, they’re projected to start Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield.
Elliott isn’t bad, but he has slowed down a lot from his superstar days with the Cowboys. Could the team still look to make a move at running back before the season?
Dallas Cowboys Trade For Dynamic Running Back In Major Blockbuster Proposal
Bleacher Report recently took a look at eight potential trades that could happen following the NFL Draft and before the 2024 season. One of them had the Dallas Cowboys pulling off a massive deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers for running back Najee Harris.
On the flip side of this trade, the Pittsburgh Steelers have Jaylen Warren on the roster. That gives them the ability to move Harris if the right deal presents itself. Pittsburgh also signed Cordarrelle Patterson in free agency, who would be a great backup behind Warren.
During the 2023 season with the Steelers, Harris ended up carrying the football 255 times for 1,035 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 29 passes for 170 yards.
Those numbers would look great in the Dallas Cowboys’ backfield. He would be an instant impact player and would give the team a much better chance to succeed.
Will this trade end up happening? Probably not. However, it’s intriguing for both sides and would certainly be a deal that the Cowboys should pull the trigger on if it presented itself.
