Wrexham ‘monitoring’ 15-goal striker with ‘electric’ ability as Phil Parkinson considers move

Wrexham are reportedly ‘monitoring’ a striker who scored 15 goals for his current club last season.

The summer transfer window is fast approaching and Wrexham are looking to resolve several issues as they enter their first League One campaign in almost two decades.

A goalkeeper tops the list of priorities and after Arsenal officially released Arthur Okonkwo, supporters will be hoping the 22-year-old is their No.1 next season.

Phil Parkinson also requires a left-back to rival Jacob Mendy, and midfield depth for the likes of Andy Cannon and Elliot Lee while acquiring a striker to partner goal machine Paul Mullin.

The club has not made official bids for any player, although they are currently ‘monitoring’ a striker they’ve previously looked at.

Wrexham continue to ‘monitor’ Loughgall striker Benji Magee

In April, it was reported that Wrexham had checked on highly-rated Loughgall striker Benji Magee alongside two of Parkinson’s former clubs, Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic.

Now, the Belfast Telegraph has revealed that the Reds are ‘monitoring’ the striker’s situation alongside League Two side Doncaster Rovers.

The report claims that divisional rivals Linfield have ended their interest in the 22-year-old who has become hot property in the Irish league after netting 15 goals in 2023/24.

It’s a promising update for Wrexham supporters as Magee won the Young Player of the Year award last term and appears ready to showcase his talent in England’s top four leagues.

Benji Magee could be the perfect Paul Mullin partner

Wrexham will find it tougher to break down defences next season as they step up to League One but the ‘electric pace’ of Magee – as hailed by Loughgall boss Dean Smith – could help them unlock third-tier defences.

Currently, Parkinson is lacking a striker to play alongside Mullin who possesses real pace, with Sam Dalby, Steven Fletcher and Ollie Palmer not ticking the box in that regard.
