The Cleveland Browns Find Their New Quarterback And Replace The Frustrating Deshaun Watson In A Rumored Move In 2025
The Cleveland Browns are heading into the 2024 season with a question mark at the biggest position in the NFL, which would be quarterback.
Deshaun Watson Has Not Proved He Can Be The Guy
The Cleveland Browns traded to Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson in March 2022, and he has only played in 12 games in the two years. He was suspended for the first eleven games in 2022 and only started in six last season due to a shoulder injury.
One of Watson’s biggest issues is he hasn’t been on the field for three years because back in 2021, when he was still in Houston, he never played a snap that season, so only seeing 12 games in three years is not great, and it has shown in his play.
Watson has to figure it out this season, or the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback position could change in 2025, and it could involve a superstar college football player.
The 2024 NFL Draft wrapped up last week, and there is nothing better than an early 2025 mock draft Fox Sports Rob Rang had his early 2025 mock this week and had the Cleveland Browns taking Alabama’s quarterback Jalen Milroe with the 18th pick.
Rang stated in his article “To earn a first–round NFL draft selection, Milroe will have to show significant improvement as a pocket passer, but he has a head coach in Kalen DeBoer who can develop his accuracy and anticipation and, of course, already boasts elite size and athleticism. Milroe will be one of the most fascinating and closely scrutinized prospects in the country next season.”
Milroe Has A Rollercoaster Season In 2023
Milroe won the Alabama starting quarterback job in fall camp last season and started the first two games. In his second game, he fell at home to Texas. The next week, the Crismon Tide benched him on the road at USF. After a horrible performance by the team in that game, Milroe started again the next week and the rest of the season.
The Katy, Texas native finished the season pretty strong, winning every single SEC game, including beating undefeated Georgia in the SEC title game.
Alabama would fall to Michigan in the Rose Bowl, but even though the Crimson Tide didn’t win it all, Milroe would finish having a great season, and now he is looking forward to 2024, where he can position himself to be a first-round pick.
