Coventry City boss reveals Wembley injury worry ahead of midweek CBS Arena clash with Hull
Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive as Mark Robins provides an update ahead of Hull following Sunday’s thrilling semi-final at Wembley
Mark Robins will this week check on the fitness of Fabio Tavares after the Coventry City forward was forced to cut short his impressive Wembley appearance against Manchester United.
The 23-year-old was one of three impact substitutions just after the hour of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final when the Sky Blues were 3-0 down to the Premier League giants who looked like they were cruising into the final of the competition to face their cross-city rivals Man City next month.
But Tavares provided a fresh attacking thrust that sparked City’s remarkable comeback, setting up Ellis Simms for his 71st minute reply before Callum O’Hare further reduced the deficit ahead of Haji Wright’s equaliser from the spot to make it 3-3 and take the tie to extra time.

The Portuguese-born player was then forced to go off, replaced by fellow striker Matty Godden at the halfway point of the 30 minutes of overtime.
Asked what the issue was, Robins said: “He was injured. It was his ankle but I don’t know how bad it is. He just wasn’t moving right. He wanted to stay on but he just wasn’t moving right, so we had to try and make that change there because that right-hand side was looking really profitable for us.”
Given his impact in the game and his positive contributions in recent weeks, Robins will be hoping the injury isn’t too serious and that the player will be fit to face Hull City on Wednesday night at CBS Arena.
