Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive as key midfielder doutbful for Tuesday night’s clash with Ipswich Town

Coventry City have been hit by another personnel blow with the news that Ben Sheaf has suffered a muscle injury that forced him to sit out against Blackburn Rovers and makes him a doubt for the club’s remaining two games of the season.

Manager Mark Robins revealed after Saturday’s goalless draw at Ewood Park that the Sky Blues’ star midfielder has a “muscle issue,” saying: “He tried to train on Friday but couldn’t, so he was out.”

Asked to be more specific about the muscle affected, Robins refused to go into details, which suggests the problem is more than a minor setback. “It’s a muscle in his body,” he said. “I’ll tell you when I need to. I don’t need to talk to you about it yet. He’s struggling.”

Elsewhere, centre-half Luis Binks was also absent from Saturday’s matchday squad, with the manager saying: “Binksy is still out with his Achilles issue. I don’t know how bad it is yet because we can’t scan it yet. We just have to treat the symptoms and see how he goes, but obviously the pair of them were struggling.”

With Liam Kitching being shown a straight red card in the goalless draw, and therefore facing an immediate three match suspension, Robins only has two fit senior centre-halves available in Bobby Thomas and Joel Laibeaudiere, although left-back Jake Bidwell could fill in if required. City are also currently without midfielder Victor Torp who suffered a stomach strain in the FA Cup semi-final last weekend.
