Daniel Farke has already given Leeds United line-up clue as changes expected against Watford

Leeds United return to Championship action against Watford on Friday

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has hinted that Junior Firpo is likely to miss the club’s Championship match against Watford due to the tight turnaround time between the game and international fixtures.

The Whites will look to maintain their place at the top of the Championship table when the league returns in just a few days. They take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Friday night (8pm kick-off).

For Firpo, the game may come too soon with the full-back on international duty with the Dominican Republic, who are in action in Peru in the early hours of Wednesday morning. This means that Firpo faces a race against time to make it back for kick-off; unless other arrangements are made, the defender’s journey back to the UK could take between 15 and 20 hours.

Farke has already hinted at the problem surrounding the lack of time between international fixtures and the return of the Championship. He said: “We have to travel already on Thursday to Watford, and many of the guys will just be back on Thursday.

“Not sure if Junior Firpo will even make it before kick-off then because I think he just can be back Friday in the UK. So it’s it will be a crazy turnaround.”
