Michael Beale’s next career move revealed after Sunderland AFC exit As They Consider Sheffield Wednesday Boss

The former Sunderland and QPR is making a return to football, but not in the way you would think

Michael Beale is set to return to a role in the football world, but not as a manager or a head coach.

It’s been just over two months since Mike Dodds replaced Beale, after he was sacked by Sunderland following a 63-day tenure as the head coach of the Black Cats; the shortest in the club’s history.

His reign was fittingly ended by a loss to the man he replaced as Black Cats boss – Tony Mowbray, who was in charge of Birmingham City – and he also appeared to give the cold shoulder to star full-back Trai Hume as he left the pitch. Beale denied this.

Getting rid of Mowbray in the first place felt like an unpopular, but seemingly inevitable, decision. But the fit between the 43-year-old and Sunderland just didn’t feel right, almost from the off. He ended up winning just four of the 11 league matches that he took charge of.

Since his sacking, he has featured on Sky Sports’ Soccer Special Programme, but he looks to be going down a completely different path in the football world.

Sunderland AFC Opinion - Michael Beale's appointment was destined to fail, and it has

Beale is set to launch a new coaching Instagram account in May 2024 to try and help aspiring managers and coaches through its content. He revealed, on his personal Instagram account, that it will be called ‘Michael Beale Coach’ and it is set to launch with plenty of content for its new followers to enjoy.

This news comes after allegations that he was using a burner X account to defend himself on the social media platform.

A Sunderland fan podcast called ‘What the Falk’ alleged that the former Black Cats boss was using an account, named ‘Player_ID’, to defend things he had done, both as the club’s head coach and during his time with Glasgow Rangers, including the alleged snubbing of Hume.

Beale and his camp refuted the claims that he was linked to the X account.

Even though there is no smoking gun, for lack of a better phrase, that shows that the 43-year-old snubbed the Northern Irish international, or that he was linked to that social media account, his reputation has taken a hit since becoming Sunderland manager.

talkSPORT reported that, while he was still in the dugout at the Stadium of Light, figuratively, the former head coach made his players come in for training the day after a loss while he took the day off, which reportedly left the playing squad furious with him.
