3 Rangers Already at Risk of Being Traded By the Deadline
With the MLB regular season now a little over a month done, the Texas Rangers are off to an alarmingly poor start, with injuries playing a major factor early on.
Given how the year is going, it’d be no surprise if the front office is looking into possible trades they can make to revitalize this club. Rangers general manager Chris Young must evaluate his team in the next few weeks and decide which players the team can’t live without and which players he’s better off sending elsewhere.
Below, we look at some Rangers in jeopardy of being traded here in the next few months.
Leody Taveras
One Ranger who is off to a highly underwhelming start, especially on the offensive side of things, is centerfielder Leody Taveras. Taveras is now in his third full season with the Rangers, and he has been an inconsistent hitter at best during his time in Arlington, and this year is no exception.
Even though Taveras was never considered a threat on offense, the Ranger let that slide due to his exceptional talent in the field. This season, however, Taveras has become too much of a liability at the plate for the Rangers to justify him being in the starting lineup every day — especially while fellow outfielder Travis Jankowski has proven himself to be a much more reliable hitter,
With the Rangers struggling mightily on offense so far and Taveras standing in the way of a solid bat, the front office must consider trading him and hoping they can get some valuable pieces in return.
