Steve Parish’s secret meeting with Oliver Glasner over the Crystal Palace manager’s job was interrupted by guests, according to a new report.
The Crystal Palace chairman reportedly had his first face-to-face meeting with Glasner at a London hotel on Friday night, while Eagles boss Roy Hodgson was still in hospital.
Glasner is available for the task of rescuing Crystal Palace’s season, and the Austrian coach is reportedly keen on the Premier League, and specifically the challenge at Selhurst Park.
The Sun report that Parish and Glasner met at the Hilton Hotel in Greenwich, south-east London, where they were spotted by members of the Sheffield Wednesday squad, who were also staying in the same building ahead of their Championship clash with Millwall – which the Owls won 2-0.
The Eagles have endured a dismal run lately with just three wins in their last 19 games, leaving them in 16th place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
It led to wide speculation that Hodgson may be removed from his Eagles post – before he collapsed at first-team training on Thursday morning.
The Sun claim Hodgson was offering to go to the Everton game on Monday night despite his hospitalisation, most likely to help from the directors’ box, but there is no official confirmation while they wait for confirmation of health checks.
The 49-year-old Glasner attended the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch the hosts lose 2-1 to Wolves on Saturday afternoon, with the two London sides set to go head-to-head on March 2.
Glasner is a free agent, and he has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League, including the Nottingham Forest job when Steve Cooper was sacked from his post two months ago.
