Texas Rangers’ Star Out For Multiple Weeks with Leg Injury, Opening Day Status in Doubt
Texas Rangers’ star third baseman Josh Jung is set to miss multiple weeks with a calf strain.
After getting injured on Friday during workouts, Jung had an MRI that revealed the strain.
The information was reported by Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News:

It’s safe to say that “a couple” means at least two weeks and possibly more. He will likely be shut down until then and then re-evaluated at that time.
It’s not known yet how this impacts his availability for Opening Day, but Jung certainly could miss time at the beginning of the season if he’s forced to slowly
ramp up once he’s cleared. It’s the latest blow to a Rangers team that is already dealing with long-term injuries to Tyler Mahle, Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer. Furthermore, Corey Seager could miss Opening Day after undergoing a procedure for a sports hernia this offseason
The 26-year-old Jung is a huge part of what the Rangers do and is a force in the middle of their powerful order. He burst onto the scene last season, hitting .266 with 23 homers and 70 RBI. He earned an All-Star nod and finished fourth in the American League Rookie of the Year voting as the Rangers won their first World Series title.
Despite the injury concerns, Texas remains one of the favorites in the American League. With Marcus Semien, Nate Lowe, Evan Carter and Adolis Garcia, the team has one of the deepest lineups in baseball (and that doesn’t even include Jung and Seager).
