Yakou Meite to miss Norwich City

Yakou Meite will miss Cardiff City’s trip to Norwich City this weekend.

The Ivorian started in a front two for the game against West Brom on Tuesday night but came off with a calf complaint in the second half.

The forward was a key part of Erol Bulut’s switch-up, when he implemented two strikers in order to get crosses into the box, which means the manager will have to rethink his strategy again this weekend, presuming Kion Etete doesn’t start alongside Famara Diedhiou.

The injuries are just piling up a little at the moment, with Meite joining Mark McGuinness, Jak Alnwick, Callum Robinson and Callum O’Dowda on the treatment table.

“Injuries, we have Yakou Meite, a calf injury,” Bulut said. “One or two players have small pains but I hope for the weekend it will not be a problem. Yakou will not be with us. Jak also.

“O’Dowda today was with us. He was with the team. So slowly, slowly he is coming. End of the month he will be with us. Robinson started training, but physically he is not there. I think they will both be back the same time.”

Rams boss keen on permanent Adams move

Derby County manager Paul Warne has admitted he would like to have a conversation over making a permanent move for Ebou Adams this summer.

Adams has started brightly for his loan club in League One, excelling again for them in their 3-0 win over Exeter City on Tuesday night.

The midfielder, who was signed by Steve Morison after leaving Forest Green Rovers in 2022, has one more year left on his deal. Nevertheless, Warne said he would be open to exploring his options regarding the player’s permanent sale in the next transfer window.

Asked if he would be interested in making his move long term, Warne said: “I always think that with all my loans.

“I had Dan Barlaser on loan at my previous club (Rotherham) from Newcastle and then signed him. Dan was on loan at Accrington Stanley and was not going to get into the first team at Newcastle. He wanted to sharpen his teeth in a first-team environment.

“In fairness to Ebou, he was ledge (legendary) in League Two. He was in the team of the year and through a freak injury has not had the game time he wanted.

“He is very much a Cardiff player and will back himself to fight for a place in their team. However, the weirdest thing is while you want him to be great, if he is outstanding then everybody else sees it too.

“If he plays well for us and is part of a promotion season, then he won’t be a secret. Wanting to keep certain players and making it happen are too different things, but I would like to be in that conversation. He is an ideal fit for us but there is a long way to go before those decisions are made.”
