Huddersfield Town new manager search ‘advanced’ as André Breitenreiter departs job

André Breitenreiter has left his position as manager of relegated Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town chairman Kevin Nagle says the club’s search for a new manager is already advancing after confirming André Breitenreiter has left his post by mutual consent. Breitenreiter arrived in February with the task of trying to keep Town in the Championship, but couldn’t manage to do so with the Terriers relegated to League One.

The German coach was in charge for just 13 games, winning two of those games as Town struggled to avoid the drop. The search has already started for a new manager, with this decision expected in recent weeks.

Town chairman and owner Nagle said; “I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with André over the past three months and he departs with our best wishes, while contingencies in place have seen our recruitment process for a new Head Coach advance.

“Supporters should rest assured that all decisions made are with the best intentions of our Club in mind, and we look forward to moving on in a positive manner with a new Head Coach dedicated to our ideals and vision, with our plans for pre-season and ambitions for the year ahead unmoved.”

In a statement issued by the club they say discussions with the manager began soon after relegation was confirmed and those discussions showed it was evident that it was in the best interests of both parties to amicably part ways.
