Encouraging Liam Delap updates emerges as Hull City set to welcome back Man City star
The striker has been a big miss in the last few weeks having been a real star of the Tigers’ play-off chase so far
Hull City will welcome back striker Liam Delap later this week as the 21-year-old returns to Cottingham to continue his recovery from a knee injury and provide a timely boost to the Tigers dressing room before a crunch home game at the weekend.
Delap has been sidelined since early January after picking up a knee injury following the 3-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday and has missed the last seven games in league and cup, though the prognosis of his injury is, thankfully, not as bad as first feared.
City were initially concerned Delap, who celebrated his 21st birthday earlier this month, would need surgery which would have ruled him out for the rest of the season, but the news that emerged on his birthday came as a welcome shot in the arm to both him and the Tigers.
There’s now hope the seven-goal frontman will still have a part to play on the pitch for City before the end of the season, and as he continues his recovery, boss Liam Rosenior says he’ll be back at the club on Thursday to see his teammates ahead of Saturday’s clash with play-off rivals West Brom at the MKM Stadium.
“He’s really good,” Rosenior told Hull Live. “We’re going to see Liam on Thursday, he’s going to come in. He’s coming in to see the lads on Thursday and Friday. That’ll be brilliant leading into the West Brom game. He’ll be in and around the players, which I know he’s missed and we’ve missed him as well.”
