WR signee Rico Scott ‘very excited’ about new Alabama offense following official visit

The second recruiting weekend of the Kalen DeBoer era might not have brought any new commitments or transfer portal additions, but the staff had an opportunity to meet with a few summer enrollees for the first time including receiver Rico Scott (Harrisburg, PA).

Scott talked with coach DeBoer and receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard over the phone on Jan. 21. Plans were quickly made to take an official visit to Alabama and meet with his new coaches in person. Bama247 spoke with Scott after he connected with coach DeBoer and coach Shephard for the first time.

“I like (coach DeBoer), he seems cool and I have heard good things about him so far from players and other coaches that have come across him,” Scott said at the time. He also mentioned how he thought coach DeBoer was a “great fit” for Alabama.

We spoke with the summer enrollee again after his official visit to see if he felt the same way about the new staff in Tuscaloosa.

Three days. That’s all it took for five-star receiver Ryan Williams (Saraland, AL) to announce his recommitment to Alabama following an official visit.

The recruiting world is still buzzing following the decision. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer certainly put some preconceived notions about not being able to recruit in the south to rest, and he did it quickly. DeBoer had been on the job for 12 days before reeling in his first big fish.
