Big news for Alabama football on the recruiting trail ahead of huge visit weekends.

Greenberg disclosed new developments for a trio of Top247 prospects that visited May 31, including SMU quarterback commit Keelon Russell and five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood. Russell is Alabama’s top target at QB, and Greenberg disclosed how big of a threat the Crimson Tide is to flip the four-star signal-caller after his visit.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer and Co. will host nine visitors this weekend and another eight June 14. Greenberg shared recent recruiting updates on three of those prospects and how they feel about the new staff in Tuscaloosa before making the trip south. Top-75 linebacker Dawson Merritt headlines that trio.

A record-setting college football transfer portal cycle is all but complete with an unprecedented amount of movement between the two windows. Nearly 3,900 players entered the transfer portal in search of other opportunities. Although the recent spring window was not as hectic as some expected, there were still plenty of big names that opted to make a move.

Of the top 150 transfer portal prospects from the 2024 cycle, 18 of those entered during the spring window with all but one already committed or enrolled elsewhere. Alabama, Florida and Miami were among the top winners of the spring with those three combining to secure the top six highest-rated transfers since the window began in April.

At this stage with the remaining top transfer prospects still uncommitted, teams are putting in extra effort to ensure a proper fit this summer. They are also carefully considering how to handle the scholarship situation when adding a new athlete to their roster
