Astros Star Could Be Traded Soon; Red Sox Are Logical Landing Spot

Should the Red Sox swing a surprising trade for the Astros star?

The Houston Astros may end up trading away one of their top hurlers this offseason.

Houston still is one of the best teams in baseball and likely will make it deep into the playoffs yet again in 2024. The Astros still have much of their core together but changes could be coming.

The Astros are going to have to spend a boatload of money soon to keep their roster together but that likely will mean at least one or two will end up playing elsewhere.

One player that has been floated in trade rumors this offseason is star hurler Framber Valdez. The two-time All-Star has been impressive in Houston and is under contract through the end of the 2025 season, but a trade is a possibility.

The Boston Red Sox need to add to the starting rotation this offseason still but it’s unclear what they will do. Trading Valdez could make some sense.

Houston is looking to add a left-handed outfielder with speed and the Red Sox have a surplus of outfielders. There have been rumblings that Jarren Duran could possibly be moved and he sounds like he fits what Houston is looking for.

If the Red Sox could pair Duran together with a prospect or two, maybe that would be a good starting point in negotiations. Boston needs to add a frontline hurler and Valdez could be an interesting option.

He has a 3.40 career ERA in 129 total games and is under contract for two seasons. He is the exact type of hurler who could help Boston out.
