Stoke City launch ‘clearance’ sale – at doomed club shop
The Stoke City shop reopens in The Potteries Centre at 9am tomorrow
Stoke City are launching a ‘clearance’ sale tomorrow – at their doomed club shop. The Stoke City shop – inside The Potteries Centre, in Hanley – has been closed today ahead of the clearance sale.
The clearance sale has ‘all stock at £5 or less’. A poster stated today: “We are closed today. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. We will reopen tomorrow at 9am.”
The sale comes as the shop is expected to shut within weeks. Stoke City announced the impending club shop closure last year for ‘commercial reasons’.
The Potteries Centre shop has been open since 2006. But the majority of retail sales go through the club’s bet365 Stadium shop or online.
The impending closure is a major hammer blow to the shopping centre which has seen the departure of a number of big names in recent years, including flagship stores Debenhams and Next, as well as Superdry, The Candle Shop, Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Peacocks, Poundland and the Body Shop among others.
