Stoke City could offer Celtic ideal Adam Idah alternative, previously wanted in 2020: View

Celtic will be looking to sign Adam Idah on a permanent basis this summer, but Stoke City’s Tyrese Campbell could be a decent alternative.

Stoke City could be in store for a very busy summer transfer window, as this 2023/24 campaign has been full of disappointments.

Of course, before we get to the summer, the Potters have got to confirm their place in next season’s Championship, as poor results and performances have now seen them involved in a relegation fight.

But whether the club stays in the second tier for another campaign or is relegated to League One, it is expected that several players will be facing the exit door, either through the club’s choice or by players wanting to leave.

One player who could possibly be facing a Bet365 exit is forward Tyrese Campbell, as his contract expires at the end of the season.

In fact, the 24-year-old could be an ideal alternative for Celtic as they weigh up whether to make Adam Idah’s move permanent or not. The Scottish side may consider alternative options if Idah turns out to be too expensive, and they could return to Campbell, a player they once looked at in 2020.

Celtic signed Adam Idah on loan for the remainder of the season in January, and the Republic of Ireland international has been brilliant since arriving in Scotland.

The 23-year-old has been part of seven Premiership games so far, during which he has scored five goals. This is along with the six goals he scored in the 28 Championship games before departing in January.

So, Idah has been a hit in front of goal, and with him impressing for Celtic, the Hoops could be looking to sign the forward on a permanent basis in the summer.

However, it has been reported that Norwich City could be looking to demand a hefty fee for the player, as his performances and the fact that he is contracted to Carrow Road until 2028 make him someone Norwich could get a lot of money for.

So, if Celtic end up being priced out of a move, they will likely be looking for other targets, and Stoke’s Tyrese Campbell could be an answer, despite him not being in good form this season.

Celtic should turn to Stoke’s Tyrese Campbell as an alternative to Adam Idah

Tyrese Campbell

It is likely that Celtic will be looking to try and make a deal possible to sign Adam Idah on a permanent basis this summer, but if not, options will need to be considered, and Tyrese Campbell could well be someone who re-emerges.

The Stoke City man was being monitored by the Scottish side back in 2020, but it was then revealed at the time that the player may prefer a move to their archrivals Rangers over themselves, so they pulled out of a deal.

But now, a few years later, it could be time for Celtic to return with their interest, as Campbell could well leave Stoke on a free transfer this summer.

Since the 2019/20 season, Campbell has been a consistent presence in the side when fit and has shown during that time how lethal he can be in front of goal, with goals and assists coming.

Last season was the forward’s best campaign in terms of numbers, as he scored nine goals and recorded five assists. However, he has been unable to replicate that form in this campaign, scoring just once in 17 league appearances.

Campbell, who can operate anywhere on the forward line, has suffered a few injuries this season, which has meant his involvement hasn’t been what he or Stoke would have liked.
