Lazio have expressed interest in signing Tottenham attacker Bryan Gil, according to the latest reports.

Not featuring in the plans of manager Ange Postecoglou, the club is said to be open to offers for Gil during the January transfer window.

Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, reveals that Lazio, led by manager Maurizio Sarri, are keen on securing Gil’s services.

The former Chelsea manager, who previously expressed interest in signing the player during the summer, is set to renew his efforts to sign him this month.

Fiorentina, along with La Liga clubs Sevilla and Real Sociedad, are also contenders in the race to sign the player.

Tottenham signed the Spanish talent from Sevilla in the summer of 2021 in a €25 million part-exchange deal that involved Argentine Erik Lamela moving in the opposite direction.

But he has failed to live up to his high potential so far, struggling to get regular playing time at the club.

Gil has spent loan spells in La Liga during two consecutive winter transfer windows, first with Valencia and then returning to his former club Sevilla.

The current season has also been challenging for the young player due to a pubic bone inflammation injury, leading to his prolonged absence.

Since recovering, he has failed to make an impact under Ange Postecoglou, featuring in only nine league matches, primarily as a substitute.

With the recent arrival of Timo Werner earlier this month, his playing time is set to be even further reduced.

Gil himself is reportedly keen on leaving, having submitted an ‘exit request’ to Daniel Levy, indicating his unwillingness to undergo another loan spell without a permanent buy option.

In search of a permanent solution for him, Spurs are open to loaning him for the rest of the season, potentially including an option to purchase for interested suitors.

A move away from Spurs may be the most beneficial option for both the player and the club.
