And considering the Chicago White Sox have an ace of their own who’s been caught up in trade rumors all offseason, they could be one of the teams that faces the most direct impact.

28-year-old right-hander Dylan Cease has been caught up in trade talks dating all the way back to last summer’s deadline. But as insider Jon Morosi said on MLB Network on Thursday night, that doesn’t mean a deal is expected to come together overnight.

“I believe he is gonna be a trade more at the trade deadline,” Morosi said.Chicago's New Manager Has a Clear Message: Details Matter - The New York  Times “I think that this, though, establishes the floor for Cease because Cease (has) two years (of team control) as opposed to one year for Corbin Burnes.”

The Orioles were able to get Burnes for pitcher DL Hall, infielder Joey Ortiz and a compensatory first round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. As Morosi said, that sets somewhat of a baseline for the White Sox to build off of, if or when they decide to pull the trigger on a Cease trade.
