Jets, assistant general manager Rex Hogan mutually agree to part ways

The Jets and assistant general manager Rex Hogan have mutually agreed to part ways, reports SNY’s Connor Hughes.

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Hogan’s departure happened earlier in the month.

Hogan just finished his seventh season with the Jets and fifth as the team’s assistant GM. The move allows Hogan to explore other opportunities outside of the Jets organization.

Prior to the Jets, Hogan spent 12 years with the Chicago Bears, in part as a national scout.

Since joining the Jets in 2019, Hogan helped construct a roster alongside Joe Douglas that produced some of the most dynamic young talent on the team, including Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams.

Assistant head coach Jerry Gray will remain with Falcons

Longtime NFL assistant coach Jerry Gray will be staying in Atlanta.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that Gray has agreed to a contract extension to remain with the team through the head coaching change from Arthur Smith to Raheem Morris. Gray took the title of assistant head coach/defense when he joined the team last year.

Gray has had stints as a defensive coordinator with the Bills and Titans along with runs as a defensive backs coach in Green Bay, Minnesota, Seattle, Washington, and Tennessee.

Erik McCoy added to NFC Pro Bowl roster

Add Saints center Erik McCoy to the list of new additions to the Pro Bowl roster.

The team announced on Wednesday that McCoy has been added to the NFC team for this week’s events in Orlando. He’ll take the spot of Lions center Frank Ragnow, who won’t participate due to multiple injuries.

McCoy dealt with injuries the last couple of years, but he was the only offensive lineman to start every game for the Saints this season. It’s the first time a Saints center has been tabbed for the team since Max Unger got the nod in 2018.
