Atlanta Braves probable pitchers and starting lineups vs. Texas Rangers, April 21
Atlanta looks to achieve back-to-back sweeps in front of a National audience.
The Braves have been impressive over the last week and they carried that into this weekend’s series with the Rangers. Pitching has done a great job and the offense has exploded in the right moments.
That offensive charge is being led by Atlanta catcher Travis d’Arnaud, who had an impressive outing in game one as he slugged three home runs including a grand slam. He followed that up with two walks and another home run in game two.
The rest of the Braves lineup has followed suit and scored 13 runs on 14 hits as a whole over two games. Marcell Ozuna achieved 17 consecutive games with a hit in game one but, unfortunately, that ended as he didn’t get a hit during game two.
Atlanta looks to continue their impressive run tonight on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.
Probable starting pitchers
Michael Lorenzen (1-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his second start of the season. His first start was against the Detroit Tigers and he kept them scoreless over five innings with four strikeouts but he did walk five batters. He cannot afford to do that against this Atlanta Braves lineup.
Darius Vines (0-0, 1.93 ERA) is making his second start for the Braves after an impressive spot start against the Astros. Vines completed 4.2 innings allowing one earned run, four hits, three walks, and striking out four. That performance earned him a second opportunity in the rotation but he faces a dangerous Rangers offense that has yet to break out this series.
