49ers officially announce the signings of 8 undrafted free agents
Ahead of rookie practice on Friday afternoon, the San Francisco 49ers announced the signings of six of their draft picks from 2024, as well as eight undrafted free agents.
Draft pick signings:
CB Renardo Green
OL Dominick Puni
S Malik Mustapha
RB Isaac Guerendo
WR Jacob Cowing
LB Tatum Bethune
First-round wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and Day 3 draft pick Jarrett Kingston remain unsigned. Kingston spoke with the media Thursday afternoon.
UDFA signings:
DL Evan Anderson
S Jaylen Mahoney
OL Briason Mays
QB Tanner Mordecai
OL Drake Nugent
WR Terique Owens
TE Mason Pline
RB Cody Schrader
Mahoney is an interesting fit who fits the mold of how the 49ers want their defensive backs to play. He wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine but bench-pressed 225 pounds 19 times at his Pro Day. That would have been three shy of the Combine leader, Malik Mustapha, who did 22 reps.
Mahoney, listed at 5’10, 188 pounds, ran a 4.54 40-yard dash. He’s physical and aggressive and has positional versatility. His first couple of seasons at Vanderbilt were at nickel. So, Mahoney could be a player the 49ers stash on the practice squad.
