West Ham twist as hardcore fans revolt after draft agreement reached with new boss
There has been another West Ham twist as hardcore fans revolt after a club’s draft agreement was reached with a new boss.
West Ham fans are going through a rollercoaster of emotions over their potential new manager.
And they’re not the only ones it seems.
From the growing agreement among a divided fanbase that David Moyes’ time with the Hammers has come to an end to the frenzied excitement of talks with Ruben Amorim.
From being so underwhelmed by links to Julen Lopetegui that many West Ham supporters would rather then stick with the incumbent manager.
Hammers fans not enamoured by Lopetegui
Not to mention the fact a dozen other bosses are said to be on the Hammers’ shortlist too.
Or that Amorim and two other agreeable targets remain a priority for West Ham.
The crux of the problem with Moyes is that supporters are fed up with his style of play and approach.
The general feeling is that the Scot’s risk averse, low-block tactics are of a bygone era with European leagues full of Pep Guardiola disciples.
So much so even little old Bournemouth – and now the likes of Palace – are playing a progressive, attacking style many Hammers crave.
For that same reason fans are very dubious about links to ex Wolves boss Lopetegui.
West Ham twist as hardcore fans revolt
With good reason according to a top Wolves expert who spoke to Hammers News about their former manager.
We reported that Milan fans were hugely relieved when it seemed Lopetegui was going to snub them for West Ham.
The tables turned, though, when West Ham fans were the ones welcoming reports from Italy that Milan have now “beaten” David Sullivan to Lopetegui.
That is best highlighted by the results of a poll run by Hammers insider Sean Whetstone.
He asked supporters: ‘If there were only two choices, Lopetegui or Moyes, who would you prefer to manage West Ham next season?’
From nearly 5,000 votes, 56% of fans voted in favour of keeping Moyes. Damning.
