Sunderland handed potential Kieffer Moore lifeline despite Cardiff City rumours
Sunderland may have been handed a late lifeline in their pursuit of one of their January striker targets.
Sunderland enter into today’s deadline day with one main aim; signing a new striker.
The club has already completed a deal for defender Leo Hjelde and they look set to confirm the signing of winger Romaine Mundle from Standard Liege too.
So a new striker is the only priority left and it looks like the Black Cats will spend their final 24 hours of the transfer market looking for a new no.9.
And one who’s been heavily linked this month is Kieffer Moore; he’s said to have been a top target for the Black Cats.
It was reported a couple of weeks ago that the Black Cats along with Ipswich Town had submitted loan bids for the Bournemouth man, and earlier this week it was revealed that Moore looked set to leave the south coast club before the January deadline, but that he favoured a return to Cardiff City.
Sunderland handed potential Kieffer Moore lifeline
But Sunderland and boss Michael Beale may have just been handed an unexpected lifeline in the race for Moore.
It’s now been revealed that Cardiff City are closing in on the signing of ex-Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou, potentially leaving the coast clear for one of Sunderland, Ipswich, or any other interested club to sign Moore.
The 31-year-old has featured just eight times in the Premier League this season, scoring once.
But the 40-cap Welsh international is a prolific Championship striker with 47 goals in 155 total appearances in the second tier.
Michael Beale will be praying for a new striker
Be it Moore or another striker, Beale will be praying that his club signs at least one tomorrow.
