What Houston Astros Can Look Forward to During the New Year
It’s been an interesting offseason for the Houston Astros so far. Financial concerns have forced them into making low-level moves, while others around the league have made blockbuster deals.
One could still be on the horizon if they decide to deal their ace Framber Valdez, but if that doesn’t happen, then they’ll be content with what is on their roster already.
And with good reason.
The Astros still have a team that is ready to win a World Series championship right now.
While others are making New Year’s resolutions to better themselves, Houston can look forward to knowing they already can compete for another division title and their third World Series ring.
That’s what the Astros can look forward to in 2024.
Their group of Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve, Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez still is one of the scariest lineups in the league. Having Jose Abreu and rising stars Jeremy Pena and Chas McCormick in the mix makes them one of the best.
It’s why their current financial issues aren’t concerning.
They already have a ready-made roster.
Houston should also get back two of their starters in Lance McCullers Jr. and Luis Garcia, who missed all of, and the majority of, the 2023 season.
This should bolster their rotation that had some issues last year that weren’t prevalent in years past.
So, while nothing splashy has been done by the Astros this offseason, that doesn’t mean they aren’t poised for another deep playoff run.
If Houston stays healthy and they continue to get the same level of production from their star players, they should be right in the thick of things during 2024 once again.
