Browns Could Soon Make A Decision On Amari Cooper’s Future
After an impressive 2023 NFL season where the Cleveland Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski proved to be as resilient as any team and head coach in the league, the franchise will try to capitalize on what appears to be a championship window for the squad.
Despite losing star quarterback Deshaun Watson and star running back Nick Chubb to season-ending injuries during the 2023 campaign, the Browns were able to stay afloat in a highly competitive AFC North division and punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs when everyone had seemingly written them off.
Even though the season ended in disappointment due to C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans handing them a loss in the first round of the postseason, the future looks bright in Cleveland, especially after some of the moves they’ve made during this NFL offseason.
Along with recently adding wide receiver Jerry Jeudy into the mix along with veteran quarterback Jameis Winston on offense, the team could be working on a contract extension for star wideout Amari Cooper, according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com via More For You Cleveland.
Although Cooper has had his fair share of injuries over the years, the veteran wide receiver is coming off a solid second season with the Browns in which he caught 72 passes for 1,250 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
Even though Cooper’s receiving touchdowns are down considerably from the year before, going from nine to five, he’s still proven his worth to the team, and an extension seems warranted, especially if the team wants to capitalize on being a potential title contender in the AFC.
