Fleetwood v Barnsley FC: Neill Collins spares a thought for the Reds’ forgotten men
Barnsley can count themselves among that bracket for a second successive season. They head to Fleetwood today with an away record to be feared and proud of and Neill Collins’ side, nicely positioned in fourth place, have a sniff of the top two still in their nostrils.
BARNSLEY
The Tykes currently sit 4th in Sky Bet League One, with 57 points to their name as they will look to go one better this campaign after narrowly missing out on promotion at Wembley in the Play-Off Final. Barnsley have been solid on the road as well at at home, and with 9 wins to their name in all competitions this season, there’s plenty of room for optomism with a handful of matches left.
Barnsley won their league opener 7-0 against Port Vale, but looking at their recent form, they have won four of their last seven matches, with the latest win being at Oakwell on Saturday 10 February. After being a goal down on home soil, it was up to Adam Phillips to turn things around and with a goal in the 88th and 90th minute, the three points went to the Reds.
Neill Collins’ side last won on the road away at fellow Play-Off hopefuls, Oxford United. They didn’t score themselves, but the three points did go back up North thanks to an own goal from Sam Long. A much needed win, but will they go and get all three points on the Fylde Coast.
