Rangers News: Josh Jung injury update, World Series rings, Adolis Garcia
Here is the latest goings on with the Texas Rangers.
Most of the vibes around the Texas Rangers to start the 2024 season have been great. The defending champs are 3-1 and the performance on both sides of the ball has met or exceeded expectations, especially this early in the year. However, the Rangers got some rather brutal news late on Monday with regards to arguably their hottest hitter in Josh Jung.
After torching the Rays most of the night, Jung took a pitch from a very not-in-control Phil Maton off his wrist and was immediately pulled from the game and diagnosed with a fracture. While Jung’s timeline to return isn’t yet known, the fact his injury popped up immediately on scans probably means that his stint on the IL isn’t going to be a short one
Luckily, the Rangers have some options to cover innings in his absence. The most logical option is to slide Ezequiel Duran over to third base and then call up Justin Foscue or Jonathan Ornelas from the minors. Foscue seemingly has the edge as he very nearly won a roster spot right out of spring training, but it’s worth noting Ornelas is having a very strong start to the season in Triple-A.

Rangers News: World Series ring design reveal gets rave reviews
One of the best parts of winning a World Series is seeing the design of the rings that players (and lots of team officials) will receive. The Rangers did not disappoint as players were presented with their rings over the weekend … and they look awesome.
First, good on the Rangers to make sure that longtime PA announcer Chuck Morgan was given the first ring presented on Saturday, The man has been with Texas for over four decades and that included a few close calls and a lot of disappointing seasons. If anyone deserved the honor of getting the first ring, it was him.
Second, everyone seems to love the design of the rings with Max Scherzer, Jon Gray, and others all giving their seal of approval. The ring itself has well over 200 gemstones as well as a removable top that reveals a fun design that details the Rangers’ path through the postseason. Other than the fact that everyone may want to make sure that the ring tops are very well secured so that they aren’t lost, everything seems great.
Rangers News: Adolis Garcia showing no signs of late spring ramp up
When Texas revealed that they were going to be very careful with how they ramped up Adolis Garcia for the 2024 season, fans were understandably concerned. Given Garcia’s injury history, including issues with his knee and oblique late in the 2023 season, the worry was that Garcia was still banged up even after a full offseason of rest, and that it could’ve caused him to struggle early in 2024.
