Sam Kennedy gets big FSG promotion — but will remain Red Sox president, too

Red Sox president/CEO Sam Kennedy is assuming larger responsibilities for the club’s parent company — while retaining his current role with the team.

Fenway Sports Group announced Friday that Kennedy has been named chief executive officer (CEO) of FSG and that Billy Hogan, who serves as Liverpool FC CEO, is now the CEO of FSG International. According to a release from the company, “in these positions, Kennedy and Hogan will work closely with FSG Principal Owner John Henry, Chairman Tom Werner, and President Mike Gordon to oversee management of the entire FSG enterprise and position the company for operational excellence that ensures the competitive success of its teams across MLB, the EPL, NHL, NASCAR, and the company’s latest investment in the PGA TOUR.”

Kennedy will remain Boston-based as the president and CEO of the Red Sox. The appointments were announced at FSG’s annual partners meeting in southwest Florida, near where the Red Sox hold spring training at the Fenway South complex in Fort Myers.

Kennedy will continue to serve as President & CEO of the Boston Red Sox, and Hogan will continue to serve as CEO, Liverpool F.C.
