Steelers Lose First OC Candidate

The Pittsburgh Steelers are down an offensive coordinator candidate.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are officially down an offensive coordinator candidate after the Atlanta Falcons hired former Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson.

Robinson was considered the Steelers’ first offensive coordinator candidate after the news broke earlier in the week that they requested to interview him. Since then, he’s interviewed with a number of teams, but once his fellow Rams coach Raheem Morris was hired in Atlanta, he appeared destined to be headed South.

Without Robinson, the Steelers’ official OC candidate list is down to Houston Texans QB coach Jerrod Johnson and Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomar Brown. They could also be looking at names like Arthur Smith, who reportedly has interest from several teams.

Pittsburgh isn’t expected to close their search anytime soon. With teams still playing in the postseason, the Steelers could be waiting to interview some hotter names on the offensive coordinator market like Klint Kubiak. For now, they’re just starting their search with some of the bigger names around the league.
