David Moyes takes positives from season as West Ham eye top-six finish | The Independent

David Moyes receives unlikely new job enquiry from European giants ahead of West Ham exit

David Moyes’ uncertain future has seen rival clubs look to take advantage and offer him a potential exit route from West Ham, having enjoyed a successful five-year stint at the London Stadium

David Moyes has been approached by Spartak Moscow as the Scot continues to face an uncertain future at West Ham.

Moyes has been highly successful in his five year stint as Hammers boss, winning the Europa Conference League last year. But a disappointing campaign this term means that his position is under threat.

The Scot is set for talks with owner David Sullivan in the summer, though the Hammers have already held talks with potential replacements. With Moyes’ position increasingly uncertain, clubs have begun to get in contact.

His contract at the London Stadium will expire at the end of the season, meaning no compensation will have to be payed. Though his exit is still to be decided, Moyes has already received one offer.

According to the Daily Mail, Moyes was the subject of an enquiry by Russian Premier League side Spartak earlier this month. It is thought they are looking to take advantage of Moyes’ uncertain future after sacking Guille Abascal a fortnight ago.

Representatives of Spartak have reached out to Moyes to see if he would be open to joining them. But they have been rebuffed in their pursuit, with the Scot instead fully focused on the final weeks of the campaign with West Ham.

Also complicating the pursuit is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has led to many sports people boycotting the country. Spartak are also fourth in the Russian top-flight and would not appear to be a suitable destination for Moyes.

West Ham meanwhile have already held talks with Ruben Amorim, with Julen Lopetegui, Lille boss Paulo Fonseca and Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna all linked with Moyes’ job. But the Scot is adamant his full focus is on the current season.
