Hull City sweating on fitness of key man ahead of Rotherham United trip
City could be without their talismanic skipper for Tuesday night’s Yorkshire derby
Lewie Coyle will be assessed ahead of Hull City’s Tuesday night’s trip to bottom side Rotherham United, after limping out of Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Swansea.
Skipper Coyle left the action less than 10 minutes into the second period with Billy Sharp coming on his place, having complained of a tight hamstring.
Coyle’s removal was a precaution according to head coach Liam Rosenior, who opted to move Regan Slater back into the hybrid role following the skipper’s premature exit.

Experienced right-back Cyrus Christie could be an option at the New York Stadium, but having only returned to training on Thursday following a six-week absence with a hamstring injury of his own, boss Rosenior is reluctant to rush him back, and could opt to play Slater at right-back in midweek.
“Now, I’ve got a squad of players and obviously the first thing I need to do is assess the players from a physical point of view,” said Rosenior of possible changes in midweek.
“Coyley felt his hamstring, that’s why he came off. He felt his hamstring at half-time. We’ve got two more games (this week). At the moment, it’s a precaution.
“Thankfully, Cyrus is back fit, but he only had one session, so I didn’t put him in the squad. He needs more sessions and more time on the training pitch. We have to assess because he’s only had one full session and by one full session, I
mean that was the session on Thursday. He took part in half the session on Thursday. We had a walk-through session yesterday (Friday) which is really light, so I need to make sure that I drop the players in when it’s right for them as well.
