In a recent report, AS mentioned that Aston Villa are set to rival Bournemouth for Girona midfielder Aleix Garcia this summer. It has been claimed that the Villans have set their sights on the Spanish talent as they look to strengthen their squad in the upcoming transfer period.

Garcia’s Impressive Form In La Liga This Season

Garcia has put in a string of impressive displays at the heart of Girona’s midfield during this campaign. The 26-year-old has scored three times and earned six assists in 36 matches for the Spanish outfit this season across multiple competitions.

The Spanish midfielder has been a decent performer at the centre of the park based on his average of 1.3 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.1 shots and 1.5 key passes per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 91.4% in the Spanish first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2026 which would make it tough for the Villans to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.
