Aston Villa: European football is Unai Emery's 'motivation' - BBC Sport

Aston Villa ‘Set to put €65m on table’ to sign duo – One player favours joining Emery’s side

On May 13th, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Denzel Dumfries’ entourage are aware of Aston Villa’s interest in the Inter Milan player.

The right-back’s contract lasts until 2025 and it’s not clear whether or not he’ll sign a new deal at the San Siro.

InterLive.it state Unai Emery likes the 28-year-old, who is ‘one of the hottest names’ for Aston Villa.

Having not favoured a move to Villa Park earlier, the player could now change his stance, after the Villans qualified for the Champions League.
The Netherlands international hasn’t reached an agreement for the renewal so far and Inter could make him available in the market. The latter’s idea is to open talks and sell him to the highest bidder in the summer window.
Dumfries isn’t the only Inter player on Aston Villa’s radar as Kristjan Asllani is also said to be a target for them. It’s claimed the Premier League side could ‘also make an attempt’ to sign the 22-year-old midfielder.

The Albania international has clocked in over 1,000 minutes from 30 games and has a deal until 2027. The Nerazzurri are open to selling him, if there’s an offer of over €25m.

It’s claimed Aston Villa ‘could put up to €55m on the table to close’ deals for the duo. Both Dumfries and Asllani aren’t seen as essential players and therefore, Inter would be in favour of selling them in the next window.

Aston Villa have been handed a boost to their chances of signing Ross Barkley from Luton Town, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder, 30, is keen to play in the Champions League next season and Villa’s fourth-placed finish has given them the edge over many rival clubs.

Multiple top Premier League clubs are competing for his signature, including Newcastle United, but Villa are in pole position to get a deal agreed.

After scoring five goals and picking four assists in 32 Premier League games for Luton this season, playing in a deeper role, the former Villa loanee has turned his career around following some difficult years.

With talks already underway, there is now a possibility that Barkley could arrive at Villa Park as the club’s first summer signing.

Luton boss Rob Edwards has refused to comment on the length of the midfielder’s contract amid questions over its length following his move last summer.

Barkley was signed on a free transfer after a mixed spell playing for Nice in Ligue 1.

Speculation over his deal comes after Andros Townsend, who signed on a similar deal when he arrived at Kenilworth Road last summer, was handed an extension to take him beyond the initial one-year deal.
