Dodgers Linked To Red Sox Star In Possible Trade After Strong Season

It sounds like the Dodgers could look to land one Red Sox star soon

The Boston Red Sox may have a trade or two up their sleeve.

Boston is in an interesting spot. The Red Sox have a clear need to fix the rotation but seems like they aren’t willing to spend any money this offseason. Instead, the Red Sox reportedly are actually looking to shed salary.

One player who has come up in trade conversations over the last few weeks has been All-Star closer Kenley Jansen. He impressed last season with Boston but could be on his way out of town.

If Jansen does end up being traded, one club that reportedly could be an option is the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

“The Angels continue to show interest in free-agent (Enrique) Hernández, but fear he prefers a return to the Dodgers, according to a source briefed on the team’s discussions,” Rosenthal said. “Hernández also is drawing interest from other clubs, and the Dodgers seem more focused on adding a high-leverage reliever, perhaps Ryan Brasier as a free agent or the Red Sox’s Kenley Jansen in a trade.”

Los Angeles has been the most active team in baseball this offseason and it sounds like it is looking to make yet another move.

The Dodgers want to add a reliever and Jansen would make perfect sense. Jansen spent the first 12 seasons of his career with Los Angeles and developed into one of the top relievers in baseball.

He left the Dodgers after the 2021 campaign, but a reunion could make a lot of sense. Maybe if Boston trades Jansen away, it will be willing to spend a little bit in free agency.
