Mickey Demetriou: Crewe Alexandra defender extends contract
Crewe Alexandra centre-back Mickey Demetriou has signed a new contract with the club until the summer of 2025.
The 33-year-old joined from Newport last summer having turned down a fresh offer to stay in south Wales.
Having joined the Alex initially on a one-year contract with the option of a 12-month extension, he has since played all 33 games this season in League Two.
Demetriou has also weighed in with eight goals, and his new deal includes an option for a further 12 months.
Crewe sit fourth in League Two, one point behind the automatic promotion positions, ahead of a trip to Notts County on Saturday.

The 33-year-old has proved a huge hit with supporters since arriving at Mornflake Stadium last summer. He has contributed eight goals along with inspirational defensive displays.
Now Demetriou has been rewarded with a fresh deal that will run until summer 2025 and includes an option for a further 12 months.
The former Shrewsbury and Newport man has made 39 appearances for the Alex this season, and donned the captain’s armband when Luke Offord was injured at the weekend.
