Lincoln City: Should 25-year-old Get Another Chance? – Opinion

Lincoln City are set for another punt at securing a SkyBet League One play-off place next season, after falling short on the final day last time out.

Sources close to The Deck revealed have the positions that the Imps are targeting in the summer window. They all fit the gaps left in the team by loans coming to an end, such as striker Joe Taylor and centre-back Alex Mitchell, and the release of former Tottenham Hotspur Youth defender TJ Eyoma.

However, the one question mark remains over the left-wing back spot. Jack Burroughs has returned to his parent club Coventry City, leaving Reeco Hackett and Dylan Duffy as the main candidates for filling the role, despite both being better suited further up the field. Irishman Sean Roughan is a safe pair of hands at wing-back, but is more impressive on the left of a back three.

That could open the door for Jaden Brown to return to the fray.

Lack of Gametime and Loaned Out:

After being released by Sheffield Wednesday last summer, Brown signed a two-year deal with Lincoln City.

The Spurs academy product made ten league appearance for the Imps, starting just three times. He was then loaned out to Scottish Premiership side St. Mirren in January, after struggling to break through from the fringes of Lincoln’s squad in the first half of the campaign.

During his short stint north of the border, he played a mere eight times. Only once did he make the starting 11. St. Mirren finished fifth in the division, securing a place in the qualification stages of the Europa Conference League.

It would likely come as a disappointment to the recruitment team at Lincoln City that Brown was loaned out and still could not string a run of games together.
