Crystal Palace make offer to sign £30m Championship star

After enjoying success with deals to sign Ebere Eze, Michael Olise and Adam Wharton, Crystal Palace have now made an offer for another Championship star.

Dougie Freedman has made it his speciality to raid England’s second tier, also luring the likes of Sam Johnstone to Selhurst Park from the Championship in recent times – on a free transfer, no less.

Now, Crystal Palace have made a move to sign another Championship gem…

Crystal Palace make Jaden Philogene offer

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Crystal Palace have sent a proposal to Hull City No.23 Jaden Philogene.

The reliable Italian journalist surprisingly claims that the England U21 international has rejected a move to Barcelona as he wants to prioritise a switch to the Premier League.

Ipswich Town and Everton have also put offers on the table for Philogene to consider, with Romano claiming that the 22-year-old is expected to make a decision soon.

The Hammersmith-born winger shone for the Tigers last season, scoring 12 goals while also providing six assists in 32 Championship appearances, including a potential Puskas winning strike against Rotherham.

Acun Ilicali – owner of Hull City – has already said that he values Philogene at £30m, telling Turkish news outlet Sabah: “This will be our policy. Just like Real Madrid bought Arda Guler. We got Jaden Philogene for £5m, now it’s £30m.”

England U21 international could replace Michael Olise

Few players in Europe are as talented as Olise, although Philogene is a similarly tricky forward who can unsettle opponents in the same way as the France U21 international – who is joining Bayern Munich.

To build on that aforementioned goal against Rotherham, the Londoner twisted and turned his way into the box, before pulling off an outrageous rabona effort, which nestled into the top left corner.

Philogene is capable of brilliant moments and is also the type of prolific dribbler Crystal Palace fans love to watch – having averaged 2.7 successful dribbles per game in the Championship last season.

To compare, Olise recorded 2.1 successful dribbles per game in the Premier League last term.
