According to FanSided’s Robert Murray, the Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds have all expressed interest in the 32-year-old.

Kemp spent the last four seasons with the Oakland A’s after beginning his career in Houston with the Astros before a brief stop with the Chicago Cubs.

In eight major-league seasons, Kemp carries a career .238/.325/.352 slash with 35 homers, 184 RBIs and 53 stolen bases. His best season came in 2021, when he hit .279 with an .800 OPS in 131 games played.

Kemp struggled with the bat last season and hit a mere .209 with a .607 OPS while splitting the bulk of his time between second base and left field.

Kemp would give the Pirates some added competition to the second base job as a veteran to go along with a handful of young players. His versatility as an infielder/outfielder would give the Pirates, or any team for that matter, some flexibility with the MLB offseason quickly coming to a close.
