Henry Davis is being called back up to the Pirates, a source confirmed to DK Pittsburgh Sports Sunday evening.

Davis is hitting .296 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs since being sent to Class AAA Indianapolis May 3. Of hit 24 hits, 14 have gone for extra bases.

During his time with the Pirates, Davis hit .162 with four RBIs and three doubles. He has 11 hits in 23 games total with Pittsburgh.

On May 25, Derek Shelton said he had gotten “good feedback” from Director of Player Development John Baker regarding Davis’ progress in Indianapolis.

“I think there’s a fine line. We’ve talked about the difference between Triple-A and the big leagues and probably how it’s the biggest gap in what we’ve seen in a long time,” Shelton said. “One of the things that we look at — performance is important, 100 percent important — but the other thing is like just adjustments of the fundamental, mechanical or even mental things that we’re working on to try and be more consistent with. I think that’s where we have to rely on our coaches, our coordinators, the people that run the minor leagues to what they’re seeing on a daily basis and how it’s leading to that performance.”

Shelton added that Davis’ main goal was to adjust his setup.

“He looks closer to where he was in terms of his set up, his load, it was something that when he went down that we kind of challenged him on and he took it and he was very aware that he needed to make some adjustments in terms of what the set up looked like at the plate,” Shelton said. “I’m talking offensively, what the set up looked like at the plate and from the video we’ve seen and the people who have seen him it sounds like he’s made those adjustments.”
