Wrexham now interested in signing ‘outstanding’ Premier League talent
Wrexham have yet to bring in a new signing following promotion to League One but Phil Parkinson will be plotting signings in the coming weeks and months.
Wrexham were reeling from National League play-off heartbreak this time two years ago.
Phil Parkinson is now preparing or life in the third tier having masterfully guided Wrexham to back-to-back promotions.
A number of signings will be needed this summer and Wrexham could add another midfielder to Parkinson’s ranks.
Andy Cannon, George Evans and Elliot Lee are a superb midfield trio and may well start the season as Wrexham’s first-choice midfielders.
Depth will be needed though and it’s unclear just what kind of role Jordan Davies will have despite his hopes of a big season in League One.
Wrexham want Brighton and Hove Albion’s Marc Leonard
Parkinson and co will surely look at adding more options in the engine room and one exciting target is now emerging.
TEAMtalk claim that Wrexham are joining Championship clubs in the race to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Marc Leonard.
It’s stated that Wrexham are ‘determined’ to get in and beat those sides to Leonard’s signature.
Leonard seemingly doesn’t have a future at Brighton and is now heading towards the final year of his contract.
Brighton would therefore be willing to cash in on Leonard for around £300,000, selling him on for a low fee before he leaves for nothing.
That fee would see Wrexham match the club’s transfer record.
Wrexham paid £300,000 to sign striker Ollie Palmer in 2022 and could match that price with a deal for Leonard this summer.
Beating Championship suitors won’t be easy but Wrexham could land a real coup by luring Leonard to the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham target Leonard profiled
Leonard hails from Glasgow and started his career in the Rangers ranks before spending four years with Heart of Midlothian.
Brighton pounced to sign Leonard in 2018, but he has only managed two first-team appearances for the Seagulls.
Leonard has spent the last two seasons on loan Northampton Town, featuring in both League Two and League One.
The 22-year-old has recorded six goals and seven assists in 97 appearances for the Cobblers whilst turning in superb displays at Sixfields.
Northampton boss Jon Brady has praised Leonard as an ‘outstanding’ talent whilst backing him for a move to Celtic or Rangers.
A former Scotland Under-21 international, Leonard has impressed with his ability to get on the ball and dictate play from deep, but also make an impact in the final third.
Wrexham have focused on experienced players in recent windows but signing a player with real resale value in Leonard would be hugely exciting.
