The Green Bay Packers will likely be focusing on one side of the ball more than the other this off-season.  The latter half of the season proved that the offense can put up points on any defense in the NFL when firing on all cylinders.  However, the defense will likely undergo many numerous changes.

On top of a completely revamped coaching staff on that side of the ball, there will likely be some on-field changes as well.  However, today it was reported that yet another piece was added to the defense for the 2024 season.

The Green Bay Packers are expected to hire Oregon State’s Anthony Perkins as an assistant defensive backs coach, sources tell 24/7 Sports.

Perkins, a former Colorado standout defensive back, produced eight all-conference selections during his time at Oregon State. Previously worked in the NFL with the Buccaneers in 2017 and 2018 as an assistant to the head coach.

An interim defensive coordinator worked closely with the defensive unit as Oregon State football prepared to face Notre Dame in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl this past season.

To replace Jonathan Smith, who left to become head coach at Michigan State, defensive coordinator Trent Bray was promoted to head coach and Anthony Perkins was promoted to defesnive coordinator.

His grandfather, Don Perkins, is a legendary Dallas Cowboys running back and ex-University of New Mexico star. From 1961 to 1968, Don rushed for 6,217 yards with the Cowboys and earned multiple pro bowl selections.

The Packers continue to make additions to their pass defense this off-season.  It is becoming clear that the pass defense will certainly be a point of emphasis this off-season.  Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley already made it clear that Safety is an extremely important position in the defense he likes to run.
