Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola raves over 3 Aston Villa players after his side’s defeat

Aston Villa recorded an impressive 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon, with three of Unai Emery’s stars earning praise from Cherries manager, Andoni Iraola.

Aston Villa capped off a superb week with a comeback win over Bournemouth at Villa Park, seeing Unai Emery’s side take a leap in the right direction in the top-four race.

Things didn’t start well for the hosts, who conceded a first-half penalty after Matty Cash fouled Milos Kerkez in the box, seeing Dominic Solanke score from the spot to give the Cherries the lead.

Fortunately, Villa found a way back into the game, just as they did against Lille on Thursday, as Morgan Rogers, Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey contributed to see the scoreline settled at 3-1.

Speaking to the media after the fixture, Iraola praised the performances of Bailey, Diaby and Ollie Watkins, admitting that his side struggled to ‘deal with’ the chances Villa’s forwards were creating.

“We had a very good first half, it was difficult against Aston Villa but we were doing the things we wanted.

“We couldn’t find this level in the second half. They have top forwards in really good form – Ollie Watkins, Leon Bailey, Moussa Diaby.

“We were taking the risk and leaving bigger spaces and couldn’t deal with the situation.”

It was an impressive display from Villa’s attack, who created a host of chances during the contest in order to turn the game around.
