£3.8m Leeds United player’s entourage expect Elland Road exit amid Premier League interest
Leeds United are close to confirming their sixth permanent sale of the summer in the form of Glen Kamara’s move to Rennes, but one player’s entourage think he will leave too.
After the sales of Archie Gray, Kris Klaesson, Marc Roca, Diego Llorente and Charlie Cresswell, Kamara is next in line with a medical due to take place at Rennes on Tuesday ahead of an £8.5m move to France.
Kamara’s exit comes as a bit of a surprise given Leeds only signed the Finnish ace from Rangers a year ago. But, it means instant profit for Leeds which in the eyes of Profit & Sustainability is only a good thing.
More sales are expected with Crysencio Summerville said to be ‘weighing up his future’ amid interest from Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa ahead of a possible £40m exit at Elland Road this summer.
But there could be more aside from Summerville, with one player’s agents expecting him to depart:
Leeds star’s representatives expect Elland Road exit this summer
Illan Meslier has been linked with a move to Marseille in France, Junior Firpo is in the final year of his deal and is ‘expected’ to go. Even Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe are said to have admirers from foreign clubs.
But one player’s entourage are expecting a move and that is Willy Gnonto. Newcastle and Everton are among the clubs keen after Nottingham Forest tabled a £16.9m bid, a trail that has since gone cold.
Now, Gnonto is attracting interest as the summer window grows older. TeamTalk claim that Gnonto wants to leave Leeds for a Premier League club this summer, so much so that his entourage expect him to go.
Leeds want at least £25m for Gnonto, huge profit in eyes of PSR
One element of Profit & Sustainability Rules is that profit made on players allows cash to be spent more readily. Gray’s move to Spurs was pure profit given he was a Thorp Arch academy product at Leeds.
Gnonto was bought for £3.8m from Swiss side Zurich and TeamTalk say Leeds want at least £25m for the winger. While it would not represent 100% profit like Gray, it would be a huge amount of profit if sold.
Of course, £25m is quite ambitious for a player that struggled to live up to his enormous hype during the 2023-24 campaign. But anything over £20m would still be seen as excellent business from The Whites.
