Carlos Soler might not have his future with Paris Saint-Germain, but the Spaniard does have a market in the Premier League. As the 2023-24 season ends, several players on this PSG team know that this summer, they’ll need to make a move to jumpstart their careers.

Soler has made 26 appearances this season across all competitions for the Spanish club, scoring one goal and registering four assists for the Parisians. At PSG, he’s more of a depth piece and perhaps wants a larger role, which is why Soler’s name is in the rumor mill.

Le Parisien reports that Soler is expected to leave PSG. Brighton and Aston Villa still remain interested in him. Furthermore, the French media outlet is the third source linking the former Valencia standout to Aston Villa, as L’Equipe and Fabrizio Romano have also done so.

On Tuesday, Aston Villa punched their ticket to the UEFA Champions League after Tottenham Hotspur fell to Manchester City.

As a result, the English club will now need to bolster its team to compete in Europe and domestically, which is why it is eyeing a Paris Saint-Germain player.

The 27-year-old joined São Paulo in January 2023 after representing the national team at the World Cup.

Méndez made two appearances for Ecuador at the World Cup and Olé say his displays caught the attention of several European clubs. Brighton, AC Milan and Lokomotiv Moscow were among them.

This has now been confirmed by the player himself during an interview with TC Deportes, and of the clubs it was Brighton that came closest to securing his services. His comments are relayed by Olé.

“After the Qatar 2022 World Cup I was approached by AC Milan, Lokomotiv and Brighton. We were closer to reaching an agreement with the English side,” he said.
There’s no explanation given as to why the midfielder couldn’t complete a move to The Amex in the winter 2023 market. In the same window Brighton agreed deals with Rosario Central and Swedish side AIK for Facundo Buonanotte and Yasin Ayari respectively.

Meanwhile Méndez’s failure to secure a transfer to Brighton saw him join São Paulo, and this deal hasn’t worked out well for him.

The Brazilian club sent him out on loan to Elche CF in January and he’s been restricted to only one appearance with the second division Spanish side so far.

According to Olé, the Ecuadorian’s future is currently uncertain and is on the radar of a few clubs like Liga de Quito and Independiente del Valle.
