Deal confirmed as Leicester wait on Crystal Palace decision to bring in “Ice King” hours before season opener

Jordan Ayew is the player talked up at this moment to join Leicester. Several news channels are saying a bid of £4millon is in place as the club is waiting on an answer from Crystal Palace.

Sammy Szmodic, who made us all a bit irritated on the last game of the season, scoring two for Blackburn in that pointless venue, has joined Ipswich on a four year deal.

Earlier transfer talk regarding Wilfred Zaha and Adam Hlozek, looks to have ended in just what it was, talk. Tax issues and problematic affairs is said to have stopped the Zaha move, while Hlozek was keen to stay in Bundesliga and is considering Hoffenheim at this point.

Latest rumours are again surrounding goalkeepers and looks to have switched from Crystal Palace shot stopper Sam Johnstone to Antwerpen’s Jean Butez. Both are quality goalkeepers and possibly being seen as first team alernatives and could see a Chelsea move for Mads Hermansen potentially bringing in a major gain.

Steve Cooper addresses Leicester City transfer woes as Tottenham deadline comes too quickly

The Leicester City manager discussed transfers at pre-match press conference – with the club now unable to bring in players ahead of their Premier League opener

Steve Cooper has defended Leicester City’s transfer process and says simple misfortune has been a decisive factor in the club’s lack of activity.

The City manager has been pleading for new recruits but few have arrived, particularly over the past month, when only Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte has come into the club. It means they’re without a new striker for the opening game of the season, which Patson Daka and Jamie Vardy will miss through injury.

Brunt: The Hard Work Continues

But while the fanbase grows more frustrated, particularly having seen the club miss out on names they made moves for such as Matias Soule and Adam Hlozek, Cooper put on a calm front at his press conference. He says the situation is not for the lack of trying.

“Every season you want to reinforce, you want to strengthen,” he said. “We’re still going through that process. The club is working together and the communication lines are great. In general, it’s been a slow market and we’ve felt that. It’s not been through a lack of trying.

Brunt: The Hard Work Continues

“It’s a very aligned club, you can see that from top to bottom. You can see why it’s had the success it’s had in its Premier League history because of the way it’s run. That’s what I’m feeling. Everybody is working hard. Communication lines are clear.

“Some things haven’t gone our way, which has not been the club’s fault. Let’s hope we can be a little more fortunate in the next couple of weeks and when the window shuts we can be where we want to be. If we can have a bit more luck, we can support the guys and can become even stronger than we are.

“But all of that is irrelevant because we have a game to prepare for on Monday. We really believe in the guys that are here.”
