‘There’s nobody better’… Dak Prescott talks about the impact of teammate in the locker room as He will be Replaced with Another
After the Dallas Cowboys passed over the running back position in this year’s draft and failed to bring in any reinforcements for the backfield, Ezekiel Elliott returns to the franchise for another season – his ninth in the NFL.
ESPN’s Todd Archer released the details of his contract.
Following the mentality imposed by Jerry Jones, who declared that the franchise is going ‘all-in’ for 2024, the player’s presence not only brings a valuable dose of experience but also represents an essential leadership for the future of the rushing game.
Reunited once again with Dak Prescott and the rest of the squad, Elliott is ready to provide motivation and stability to the team’s RB corps.
The youth and inexperience of the current runners highlight the role the veteran can play in the development of the offense. His return is closely linked to a commitment to mentoring the young talents.
As the season approaches, the expectation surrounding Ezekiel Elliott as the Cowboys’ starting running back is significant. His record of success and his ability with the ball in his hands make him a natural choice to lead the team’s running game, despite the fact that in recent years he hasn’t reached peak performance levels.
For the upcoming season, America’s Team RBs group includes Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn and a few other names who want to compete for a place in the squad (Royce Freeman, Snoop Conner, Malik Davis and Nathaniel Peat).
Dak Prescott hopeful for Mahomes’s return
The Cowboys quarterback was happy when he heard that Elliott would be returning to the team. That’s because he’s a big believer in the strength the player has in the locker room, especially given that the current running backs in the depth chart are inexperienced and need an older figure to help them mature.
“He’s honest, what you see is what you get as I said, he can have fun when it’s time, but when it’s time to be serious and lock in, there’s nobody better than him,” Prescott said.
According to the signal-caller, Zeke knows how to split fun time with serious time: “Just to be able to bring the fun to the locker room, but in the same sense you see that and be able to separate that moment you walk on the field to see his focus, to see his intensity, to see the way that he practiced. As I said, every young guy should follow the way that he goes about his business on the field.”
Prescott is confident that Elliott’s presence in the locker room alone can change the careers of the young players who are in the process of developing in the league.
“You add a guy like Zeke, to a room that has a lot of depth in that sense, obviously, it’s a young group. But I think that’s the benefit of adding a guy like Zeke and what he can bring to that, what he can just give those guys for their career, the way that they can approach it, that’s going to speed that process up for them.”
