‘Done and sealed’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool and Wolves have agreed transfer
The Reds have finalised a deal to acquire the permanent services of Wolves talent Alvin Ayman.
Transfer news specialist Fabrizio Romano reports Liverpool have signed Ayman on a five-year deal, paying a compensation fee of £2 million to Gary O’Neil’s side. The Premier League’s five-step approval process for youth transfers has already been completed.
The 16-year-old only joined Wanderers last August as he departed Bradford City following seven years at the West Yorkshire Club. He now makes yet another move, swapping Molineux for Anfield.
Ayman had been the subject of interest from multiple ‘big six’ Premier League clubs, so it comes as no surprise to see Liverpool finalising their swoop. Manchester United were also keen but the Red Devils’ bitter rivals have been proactive and urgent.
Who is new Liverpool signing Alvin Ayman?
The Wolves teenager can play in defensive midfield or centre-back and he’s already received international recognition, having been named a standby for England Under-17s last year.
Ayman has played just nine competitive youth matches for Wolves since signing about 11 months ago but two of these have been for the Under-21 side, stepping up way above his age group. Those at Wolves believe he has excellent potential, hence the interest from Liverpool and others.
Gary O’Neil even brought Ayman along for a Premier League matchday a few months ago, inviting the wonderkid to join the senior players for the trip to Manchester City. Although not named in the squad, the experience will have been invaluable.
READ MORD: Club officials ‘come to terms’ over selling player to Wolves – Agreement reached, on way to England
On Thursday, we covered claims from France which stated Wolverhampton Wanderers and FC Nantes have reached an agreement for Bastien Meupiyou.
Later that day, RMC Sport stated the 18-year-old is scheduled to undergo a Wolves medical in the next few days.
Friday’s edition of Ouest-France points out that Wolves will pay €5m plus bonuses for a centre-back. The Ligue 1 side will also be entitled to receive a percentage of a future sale.
The newspaper gives an insight into why Nantes decided to sanction a move and the clubs that have shown interest in the defender.
Meupiyou made his senior team debut in September 2023, a month before he suffered a serious injury. This forced him to miss the remainder of last season and he’s yet to return to the pitch.
That didn’t stop him from ending up on the radar of several European clubs like RB Leipzig, Manchester City, RC Lens and others. In fact, Lens had shown willingness to offer €4m, but they weren’t entertained by their Ligue 1 counterpart.
The France U18 international’s deal lasts until 2025 and the renewal negotiations had stalled. Therefore, the Nantes leaders had ‘come to terms’ with selling him in this window.
Wolves have managed to win the battle and Meupiyou will soon be announced.
